Macy’s, Federated in Dispute Over Executive: R.H. Macy & Co. announced an agreement to hire Roger Farah, a top Federated Department Stores executive, as its new president and chief operating officer, effective next July. But the signing of a contract has been complicated by Federated’s filing in Cincinnati of a request for a court order preventing Farah, chairman of its New York-based Federated Merchandising division, from accepting employment with Macy’s. Federated said in the filing that Farah’s contract prevents him from working for any competitor until July, 1996. Federated said it was worried Farah would give trade secrets to Macy’s, Federated’s biggest competitor in the New York City-New Jersey market.
