Hasta la vista, jackets . . . and T-shirts. . . . and watches.

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger cannot be pleased by the events of the wee hours of Sunday morning, when a display window outside his trendy Planet Hollywood restaurant was broken open and some valuable contents, including three one-of-a-kind leather jackets, vanished.

Gone were the jackets--individually designed models valued at $1,000 each--three T-shirts and three watches worn by cardboard figures of Schwarzenegger and two of his Planet Hollywood partners, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone.

One of the watches was later found by police in a grassy area just north of the 10-month-old South Coast Village restaurant, said Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dick Faust.

Police believe the theft occurred sometime between 3 a.m., when the last employee left the building at 1641 W. Sunflower Ave., and 6:30 a.m., when the broken window was discovered by a night security guard.

The jacket that had been draped over the Schwarzenegger figure was made of dark green smooth leather brushed for a used appearance, Faust said. An orange letterman-style jacket with beige sleeves was on the Stallone figure and Willis’ likeness was wearing an olive green suede jacket.

All inquiries about the thefts were referred to Planet Hollywood’s Los Angeles-based public relations consultant, Bonnie Eslinger, who insisted that, contrary to the police report, none of the actors owned any of the jackets nor had they ever worn them.

“I have no desire to generate any publicity from this incident, although I understand its value as a news item,” Eslinger said.

Santa Ana police, however, took a more proactive public stance and sought the public’s help.
