Pasadena : Freeway Hearing Set Sept. 27
The California Transportation Commission has scheduled a public hearing Sept. 27 on the proposed extension of the Long Beach (710) Freeway into Pasadena.
If commissioners OK the project that would carve through South Pasadena, Pasadena and El Sereno, the proposal still would need federal approval and the allocation of construction funds.
Transportation commissioners chose the hearing date after Caltrans submitted the recommendations of a local advisory panel on easing the negative effects of the north-south freeway link between the San Bernardino (10) and Foothill (210) freeways.
The commissioners, who are not bound by the advisory panel, could ignore its report and allow trucks and a protested proposed interchange.
The hearing will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 27, a Monday, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green St.
