Countywide : Orangewood Names Executive Director
The Orangewood Children’s Foundation has selected Judith A. Nelson to serve as the organization’s new executive director, filling the spot vacated by County Supervisor William G. Steiner, officials said.
Nelson, 50, of Redondo Beach, will be the second director of the 13-year-old foundation, officials said. She has served as the executive director for Children’s Bureau of Southern California since 1980. She begins her new post Oct. 1.
The Orangewood Children’s Foundation in Orange is the fund-raising arm for the Orangewood Children’s Home for abused and neglected children.
The foundation also financially supports child abuse prevention programs, supports foster children groups and donates scholarships to foster children wishing to attend college.
It has an annual budget of $1.5 million, officials said.
