Forget the Tenth

Share

Is there one gasoline retailer in the United States with enough courage to round off the ubiquitous 9/10th cent at the end of the price, to the next higher cent? This practice began in the ‘30s during the Great Depression when competition was so intense that 14.9 cents resulted in greater sales volume than the guy across the street who charged 15 cents. How long will this nonsense continue?

Can’t we stop this kidding of the automotive consumer? We all look at $1.39 and 9 tenths and see $1.40.
