Reflecting what he called “generational diversity,” Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan included a 29-year-old campaign aide and a 63-year-old retiree in 11 additional nominees to city commissions announced on Friday.
John D. Shallman, Riordan’s deputy campaign manager, was named to the Transportation Commission with cycling enthusiast Ryan T. Snyder and real estate agent Sherri L. Franklin. James E. Silcott, a retired architect, was named to the Board of Zoning Appeals, along with attorney Peter M. Weil.
Other nominees were attorney Marie Rosa Martinelli-Hooper and tax manager Gary W. Kim to the Social Services Commission; attorney William Kil and USC accounting professor Anelise (Andy) N. Mosich to the Productivity Commission; attorney Nancy J. Hoffmeier Zamora to the Board of Civil Service Commissioners, and attorney Charles E. Dickerson, who is Councilwoman Rita Walters’ chief of staff, to the Board of Public Works.
Earlier this week, Riordan announced the appointment of three other commissioners: Former U.S. Deputy Commerce Secretary Rockwell A. Schnabel to the Fire and Police Safety Pension Commission, and writer Mary L. Frawley and social service provider Elizabeth J. Helms to the Commission on Disability.
