Tom Weiskopf and J.C. Snead shot five-under-par 67s Friday to share the first-round lead in the PGA Senior Tour’s Franklin Quest Championship at Park City, Utah.

Weiskopf had six birdies and one bogey over the par-72, 7,300-yard Park Meadows Golf Course. Snead had seven birdies and two bogeys over the windblown mountain course.

At 68 were Dave Stockton, Bob Betley, Bob Wynn and Tom Shaw, with Larry Laoretti and Dale Douglass at 69. Douglass won this event in 1991 when it was known as the Showdown Classic.

Snead’s round was highlighted by two chip-ins for birdies, at the par-three fifth and par-four 10th.

“I haven’t chipped in twice in 20 years,” said Snead, who is looking for his first senior title after winning eight times on the PGA Tour.

In the Vantage Classics competition for players 60 and over, 77-year-old Jerry Barber, the 1961 PGA champion, shot 71. It’s the 20th time he’s shot his age or better this year.

Betsy King shot her second consecutive 67 and is tied with Figueras-Dotti at 10-under 134.

Figueras-Dotti tied her career-best round and broke the course mark of 66 set Thursday by Kris Monaghan.

Figueras-Dotti birdied the fourth, fifth and ninth holes on the front nine. She went seven under on the 10th hole, sinking a 10-foot birdie putt, but bogeyed No. 11 after her second shot went to the left of the green. She came back to birdie Nos. 12 and 13 and went 10-under with birdie putts on the 16th and 17th holes.
