The New York Mets announced that outfielder Vince Coleman, who faces felony charges stemming from his explosives incident in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, has agreed to a request that he not rejoin the team.

Coleman will not rejoin the team until baseball’s Executive Council concludes an investigation into the incident.

The Mets had originally requested that Coleman rejoin the team within two days after his hearing in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Coleman will remain on “administrative leave” and will be paid during the investigation.

Rickey Henderson has his familiar No. 24 back and Toronto Blue Jay teammate Turner Ward is a lot richer for it.

Ward sold his number to Henderson before Friday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox. Though neither player will disclose the price tag, a player agent says it was $25,000.

Henderson, who wore No. 14 in his first nine games with Toronto, started in left field Friday wearing No. 24. Ward, who is on the disabled list, was numberless.
