LOS ANGELES : Man Pleads Not Guilty to Gun-Making Charge
An Acton man accused of manufacturing machine guns and other illegal weapons pleaded not guilty Monday and was allowed to remain free on bond while awaiting trial.
According to a federal grand jury indictment handed up last month, Christopher James Berwick, 49, made parts to convert legal guns into machine guns and also manufactured illegal silencers. He allegedly turned those weapons over to Christian Gilbert Tony Nadal and his wife, Doris Nadal, who are accused of selling them to an undercover FBI agent.
The Nadals and Berwick were indicted after an 18-month federal investigation into white supremacist groups in Southern California. They are scheduled to go to trial in September.
