GARDEN GROVE : Classes Start Sept. 9 for 42,000 Students
Fall classes for the 42,000 students in the Garden Grove Unified School District will begin Sept. 9.
Registration is continuing for all high school students. Also, seventh- and eighth-grade students may now sign up for classes at their assigned intermediate schools. Offices at the district’s 43 elementary schools open for registration on Aug. 30, said district spokesman Alan Trudell.
For information on school locations and attendance areas, call (714) a663-6391.
To enter kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before Dec. 2. As proof of a child’s age, parents must provide a birth or baptism certificate, a passport or similar legal document, Trudell said.
Children must be immunized for polio, measles, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, German measles and mumps. Parents must provide the school with documentation of the immunizations signed by the medical provider.
Immunizations are available from private doctors, regional clinics of the Orange County Health Care Agency, or from the district’s Assessment and Registration Center at Cook Elementary School, 9802 Woodbury Road, Garden Grove.
The immunization clinic at the registration center is open for district students only. Free immunizations will be provided weekdays beginning Monday, excluding holidays, from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
For more information, call the district’s information office, (714) 663-6503.
The Garden Grove school district serves most of Garden Grove and parts of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Westminster, Cypress, Stanton and Fountain Valley.
