Gunman Takes $1,800 From Encino Bank
ENCINO — A lone bandit armed with a semiautomatic pistol walked into a bank branch Monday and robbed a teller of about $1,800, authorities said.
The gunman, described as a white man, about 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds, walked into Union Federal Bank at 15962 Ventura Blvd. about 12:50 p.m., said Lt. Tom Mears of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys division.
A description of the robber was passed on to the Police Department’s criminal analysis division to compare his description and method with prior incidents, Mears said.
The robber, who police say may have a New England accent, wore a multicolored long sleeve print shirt and baggy beige pants, Mears said.
