SAN CLEMENTE : Ole Hanson School Gets New Principal

Capistrano Unified School District officials have appointed Jolene Dougherty principal of Ole Hanson Elementary School.

Dougherty, who most recently was assistant principal at Crown Valley Elementary School in Laguna Niguel, replaces Austin Buffum, who was promoted to the district’s instructional services division.

Dougherty has also served as assistant principal at Castille Elementary School in Mission Viejo, as teaching assistant principal at Las Palmas Model School in San Clemente and as elementary summer school principal at Palisades Elementary School in Capistrano Beach.

Dougherty, a resident of Irvine, holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology-communication from the University of Colorado, a master of science degree in educational administration from Cal State Fullerton and a professional administrative services credential from UC Irvine.

Dougherty’s professional honors include Outstanding Graduate Students in Educational Administration recognition from the California State University system and recognition as an outstanding teacher at Las Palmas Model School.

She assumed her post immediately after her appointment by the district Board of Trustees.
