The following are selected entries from the crime logs of local law enforcement agencies between Aug. 23 and 29:
Glendale
Colorado and Adams streets--Two thieves persuaded a woman to give them cash and jewelry, valued together at $800, in exchange for a fake gold bar at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 25.
Pennsylvania Avenue, 4800 block--Thieves caused $2,000 worth of damage to a front door as they stole camera equipment and jewelry of unknown value and $180 between 8:20 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
West Chevy Chase Drive, 300 block--Thieves took jewelry and clothing, valued together at $2,735, from the unoccupied apartment of an elderly woman in a theft discovered Aug. 27.
South Central Avenue, 800 block--Entering through an open door in an adjoining suite, thieves took a fax machine valued at $2,000 from a business on Aug. 27 or 28.
Mariposa Street, 1200 block--Thieves entered an unlocked apartment and stole $1,358 and two Social Security checks for $608 each on Aug. 28.
Avenue, 900 block--After prying open the door locks to a business, thieves stole clothing, valued at about $8,000, on Aug. 28 or 29.
Riverdale Drive, 400 block--Thieves entered a residence through an unlocked front door and stole a handgun and hunting knife, valued together at $130, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 29.
Eagle Rock
Campus Road, 1600 block--Thieves entered an unlocked office and stole computer equipment, valued at $800, between 12:30 and 7 p.m. Aug. 23.
Fair Park Avenue, 2200 block--A thief with a gun came up behind a woman in a parking facility and robbed her of jewelry, valued at $1,250, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24.
Colorado Boulevard, 2000 block--After smashing a glass door, thieves entered a private residence and stole cash and camera equipment, valued together at $2,740, on Aug. 24 or 25.
Medlow Avenue, 2600 block--Thieves removed a front window screen to steal a gun and a radio, valued together at $2,200, from a residence between 6 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Aug. 26.
North Avenue 51, 1800 block--Thieves pushed open a window to enter a residence and steal camera and video equipment, valued together at $6,390, between 8:40 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 26.
Yosemite Drive, 2400 block--Forcing open a rear window, thieves stole tapes or records and jewelry, valued together at $2,339, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
Addison Way, 2000 block--Thieves pried a rear door, then ransacked the residence and stole video equipment and jewelry, valued together at $1,550, between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29.
Genevieve Avenue, 4900 block--Thieves asked for directions, then stole a woman’s purse containing $550 at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 29.

Foothill Boulevard, 3000 block--Motor oil and a desktop calculator, valued together at $425, were stolen from a service station on Aug. 28 or 29.
Atwater Village
Los Feliz Boulevard, 3000 block--A thief with a gun robbed a man of his jewelry, walked away, then returned and stole the man’s wallet for a loss of $445 at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
Echo Park
Figueroa Terrace, 900 block--Thieves entered a residence and stole property, valued at $1,650, in a theft discovered Aug. 23.
West Reservoir Street, 2700 block--After asking for directions, thieves grabbed a woman’s purse containing $650 at 6:40 a.m. Aug. 24.
Cove Avenue, 2200 block--Video and camera equipment, valued together at $3,350, were stolen from a residence between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 24.
Sargent Place, 1500 block--Thieves forced open a kitchen window, then ransacked a bedroom, stealing a radio and jewelry, valued together at $4,800, between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Aug. 26.
Glassell Park
Carleton Avenue, 2600 block--Entering through a kitchen window, thieves stole clothing and jewelry, valued together at $1,820, from a residence between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 26.
Locust Street, 600 block--Thieves with a gun stole cash and jewelry, valued together at $1,512, at 11 p.m. Aug. 26.
Figueroa Street and Cypress Avenue--As two people sat in their car, thieves with a gun stole cash and jewelry, valued together at $960, at 11:10 p.m. Aug. 26.
El Paso Drive, 1300 block--A man tried to flee from gunmen, but they blocked his escape and stole his wallet, containing $60, at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
West Avenue 31, 2700 block--Thieves with a gun approached a car from both sides and stole jewelry and a wallet, valued together at $618, at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
San Fernando Road, 3000 block--After cutting off the padlock to a storage unit, thieves stole household goods and computer equipment, valued together at $2,250, in a theft discovered Aug. 28.
Arthur Street, 2400 block--Thieves with a gun stole cash and jewelry, valued together at $140, from a man at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 28.
Gassen Place, 3300 block--After smashing the side window of a residence, thieves stole video equipment and jewelry, valued together at $1,300, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Aug. 29.
Highland Park
Toland Way, 4500 block--Thieves stole video equipment and food, valued together at $285, from a private school in a theft discovered Aug. 23.
North Figueroa Street, 6400 block--Thieves pried open a classroom door, then the room’s cupboard, and stole video and computer equipment, valued together at $1,250, in a theft discovered Aug. 23.
Avenue 63 and Repton Street--A thief in a car pulled up to the curb in front of a woman, got out and grabbed her purse, containing $215, fleeing after a struggle at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24.
York Boulevard, 6100 block--Thieves with a gun stole $200 from a gas station at 2 a.m. Aug. 27.
North Figueroa Street, 5700 block--Thieves with a gun entered a business demanding money, then ransacked the drawers and stole cash and video equipment, valued together at $15,930, at 12:20 p.m. Aug. 27.
Aldama Street and Avenue 56--A thief with a gun ran up to the driver’s side of a car and stole the vehicle at 8:45 p.m. Aug. 27.
Avenue 52 and Pasadena Freeway--Approaching a car waiting at a stop sign, thieves put a gun to the driver’s head and stole the car at 4:35 a.m. Aug. 29.
North Figueroa Street, 5800 block--Holding a screwdriver to a woman, thieves stole $100 from her at 9:10 a.m. Aug. 29.

Russell Avenue, 4500 block--Thieves removed a screen and forced open a side window to enter a residence and steal a radio and other property, valued together at $1,500, between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
Avenue, 4600 block--Thieves stole a wallet, containing $465, at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 26.
Talmadge Street, 1500 block--Thieves threw a woman to the ground, then stole $125 from her car at 9 p.m. Aug. 27.
Hollywood Boulevard and Alexandria Avenue--Pointing a hand gun, thieves stole $240 from a man at 9:50 p.m. Aug. 27.
Boulevard, 4300 block--Thieves with a gun stole $159 from a fast-food restaurant at 10 p.m. Aug. 27.
Hillhurst Avenue, 1900 block--After smashing a window, thieves entered a business and stole cash and a safe, valued together at $3,500, on Aug. 27 or 28.
North Vermont Avenue, 1800 block--A thief with a gun stole $28,227 from a post office at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 28.
North Mariposa Avenue, 1300 block--After following a man, a thief with an gun stole his wallet, phone equipment and jewelry, valued together at $300, as the man parked his car in a residential driveway at 6 p.m. Aug. 29.
Mount Washington
Terrace 49, 900 block--Thieves pried open a front window to enter a residence and steal jewelry and household goods, valued together at $6,200, between 7:15 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. Aug. 23.
Avenue 38 and North Figueroa Street--After asking a man for some change, a thief pulled a gun on him and stole cash and jewelry, valued together at $900, at 11:45 p.m. Aug. 23.
Terrace 49, 700 block--Thieves opened a garage door and stole tools, valued at $1,200, on Aug. 23 or 24.
Mount Washington Drive, 500 block--Thieves climbed up a balcony and entered a residence through an open door, stealing clothing and a radio, valued together at $2,065, between 6 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. Aug. 24.
Isabel Street, 400 block--As one thief posing as a welfare official interviewed a woman in her home, two others stole cash and jewelry, valued together at $1,600, from her purse and dresser drawer at 11:05 a.m. Aug. 24.
Marmion Way and Avenue 45--While a survey crew worked about 700 feet away, thieves took electronic equipment, valued at $1,200, between noon and 1 p.m. Aug. 26.
West Avenue 45, 100 block--Thieves pried open a front window and stole video equipment and a radio, valued together at $1,940, from a residence between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 27.
Cleland Avenue, 4700 block--After prying open a front door, thieves ransacked a residence and stole cash and firearms, valued together at $25,430, between 1:15 and 1:45 p.m. Aug. 27.
Avenue 46 and Figueroa Street--Pulling knives, thieves stole a man’s car and $830 at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 29.
Silver Lake
Bancroft Avenue, 2300 block--Thieves stole video equipment and a radio, valued together at $1,415, from a residence between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
Locksley Place, 2600 block--Thieves entered a residence and stole a TV and video equipment, valued together at $3,877, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 26.
Hyperion Avenue, 3000 block--Thieves pried open a bedroom window, ransacked the residence and stole a radio and video equipment, valued together at $1,100, between 7:30 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. Aug. 26.
Riverside Drive, 2900 block--After kicking in the door of a motel room, thieves stole a wallet and $270 from the people inside at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
Boulevard, 2900 block--Thieves took a man’s car keys by force, then stole his car at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 29.
