PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Tony Woods Is Reunited With Knox

Tony Woods, a former Seattle Seahawk defensive lineman, was signed by the Rams on Wednesday. Woods, a former No. 1 pick who played outside linebacker for Chuck Knox’s Seahawks in the late ‘80s, is now a 6-foot-4, 269-pound defensive end who shouldn’t have much trouble fitting in.

“I know all the coaches, and the system is the same, so there won’t be much of an adjustment for me unless they’ve changed a lot,” Woods said. “I was surprised when Seattle let me go because I had a good camp, but I guess it’s mainly a financial decision they decided to make.”

Don Bracken, waived last week, was re-signed and will handle the punting duties against Green Bay on Sunday. How much longer the job will be his remains in question, though. Mike Horan, who was waived by the Broncos, had a tryout Wednesday and the Rams told him they would be in touch. Apparently the Rams were reluctant to change their coverage scheme for Horan, who is left-footed, on such short notice.

Linebacker Jeff Brady, claimed off waivers from Green Bay on Tuesday, said he didn’t feel awkward about facing his former team Sunday.

“The coaches here are asking questions about personnel and different schemes and things like that,” he said. “I don’t think I’m in an awkward position. I’m a Ram now. I’m glad to get out of Green Bay and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to show the coaches here what I can do.”
