Toyota to Raise Prices 3.9%: The auto maker said it will increase U.S. prices of 1994 model cars and trucks by an average of $601 over comparably equipped 1993 models. Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus luxury division said its 1994 U.S. car prices will increase an average of 5.9%, or $2,209, compared to comparable 1993 models. On a non-comparably equipped basis, the suggested base prices for 1994 model cars and trucks will be an average of 6.2% higher than at the end of the 1993 model year. The “larger-than-normal Toyota price increase” is driven primarily by the appreciation of the Japanese yen and the cost of new government safety and emissions control equipment, Toyota said.
