* * 1/2 Ceremony, “Hang Out Your Poetry,” DGC. Chastity Bono and her songwriting partner, Chance, debut with the same sort of groovy, good-natured sound that brought Chastity’s parents, Sonny & Cher, such fame in the ‘60s. The pair’s sweet, demure vocals, which bear no resemblance to Sonny’s croak or Cher’s bluster, are framed nicely on two songs by Jerry Garcia’s trippy guitar, and elsewhere by elegant orchestration. The beat goes on indeed.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
