Six students who will attend Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science this fall have been awarded scholarships, thanks to a $50,000 donation from the Nathaniel and Valerie Dumont Foundation of Beverly Hills.
The foundation also established a $150,000 matching scholarship fund for future students interested in attending Drew.
The students will attend Drew’s School of Allied Health. Three of them--Sheila Bennett, 26; Cynthia Goins, 36, and Auxsophene Portier, 26--will study in Drew’s physicians’ assistant program.
Two students, Thomas Joseph, 38, and Domico May, 24, will attend the school’s radiologic technology program. Recipient Neessa Palmer, 22, will study health information management.
