THOUSAND OAKS : Reward Offered for Tips in Mall Attack

Share

The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips about the identity of three young women and a young man suspected in the strong-arm robbery of an 18-year-old woman at The Oaks mall.

The woman told Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies that she was walking with a friend from the J.C.Penney store to her car Tuesday when three women ages 18 to 20 walked up, demanding to know what she was looking at and yelling profanities at her.

The woman got into her car and tried to close the door, but one of the trio--a heavyset woman with red hair--reached inside and grabbed the car keys and an automatic bank teller card out of the victim’s hand. When the victim grabbed her possessions back, the red-headed woman demanded the $10 in cash she had spotted in a pocket on the inside of the car’s door.

When the victim refused, the woman punched her twice in the face, grabbed the money and fled with the other two women to a brown or tan minivan driven by a young man aged 18 to 20 with spiked blond hair and several ponytails.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to prosecution in the case.
