Man, 25, Shot Dead While Sitting in Car; Assailants Escape
A man was shot and killed as he sat in his automobile on West Borchard Avenue near Center Street early Sunday morning, police reported.
The victim, Juan Carlos Huizar, 25, of Santa Ana, was found behind the steering wheel of his car, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, police said. The assailants fled in a vehicle.
The incident is not believed to be gang-related, but the motive of the shooting is not known, said Sgt. Dick Faust.
Faust said neighbors in the 2200 block of West Borchard Avenue told police they heard three or four shots fired about 3:45 a.m. Sunday. Neighbors said they then heard the sounds of tires screeching. Huizar’s body was found a few minutes later.
Faust said police have no suspects.
