S. African Man Burned to Death; Whites Warned

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa —
South African police have warned whites not to enter black townships without protection after a man was burned to death while visiting a squatter camp east of Johannesburg.
The white man, 37, and his vehicle were hijacked and set on fire Saturday after he entered the Mandela Squatter Camp near Daveytown township east of Johannesburg to drop off an employee.
The employee managed to escape and alert the police.
