Hassanein to Retire as Head of Warner Bros. Theater Unit

Salah M. Hassanein will retire as president of Warner Bros. International Theaters next summer, after overseeing a global expansion for the entertainment giant.

He will be succeeded by Millard Ochs, who formerly served as chief operating officer of United Cinemas International, a joint venture of MCA Inc. and Paramount Communications.

Hassanein, who has worked for Warner since 1988, will remain as a consultant and board member of Warner Bros. International Theaters.

During his tenure, he guided multiplex expansions in Japan, Australia, the Far East and London.

Ochs, who will work out of the company’s Burbank headquarters, began his career with the Stanley Warner Theater Co.

He also worked for National Amusements and American Multi Cinemas.

* Music industry sources confirmed reports that Danny Goldberg will be named president of Atlantic Records either late this year or early next year by Atlantic Group Co-Chief Executive Doug Morris.

The Time Warner unit had no comment about the possible promotion.

Sources also confirmed a report in the Hollywood Reporter that Goldberg will be relocating soon from California to New York.

* Communications and Entertainment Corp. has named Robert Meyers president and chief executive of its movie subsidiary, Odyssey Entertainment Ltd. He is former president of Orion Pictures International.

* Michael London has been named executive vice president of production at 20th Century Fox.

* Daniel H. Coleman is the new vice president of legal and business affairs for Network Telephone Services Inc., an audiotext company.

* Kevin Koffler has joined Levine/Schneider Public Relations as senior account executive based in Los Angeles.
