Burbank-based cartoon producer DIC is hoping it can score a goal next week with the debut of a syndicated soccer-themed series designed to take advantage of the attention expected to be given next year’s World Cup matches. The half-hour cartoon, called “Hurricanes,” involves an international soccer team that is inherited by a teen-age girl. World Cup matches will be played for the first time in stadiums across the United States, with the finals scheduled to be held in Pasadena’s Rose Bowl.
