WEEKEND TV : KNBC Airs 2-Part Program on African-American Women

KNBC-TV Channel 4 presents Part 1 of “Images & Realities: African-American Women,” which examines issues significant to the African-American woman including the historical realities, teen-age years, stereotypical imagery as portrayed by the media, young womanhood, the importance of the family unit and education.

The show, airing Sunday at noon, is hosted by Essence magazine editor-in-chief Susan L. Taylor. Also appearing are Queen Latifah, actress and rap artist; Deborah Prothrow-Stith, assistant dean at Harvard; actress Halle Berry and economist Julianne Malveaux. (Part 2 airs next Sunday at noon.)

The Middle East peace talks and health-care reform will dominate the public affairs shows.

Vice President Al Gore will be a guest on “Meet the Press” and will discuss government reform and other priorities of the Clinton Administration, Sunday at 7 a.m. on channels 4 and 39, 8 a.m. on 36.
