Industrial Growth Slowed in August: After months of battling to restrain its overheated economy, China reported the slowdown, according to the official China Daily. China’s State Statistical Bureau said industrial output grew 23.4% last month in annual terms, 1.7% slower than July’s growth rate, the English-language newspaper said. The bureau predicted that industrial growth will continue to fall over the next few months as the government continues to squeeze credit to battle inflation.
