Kings Sign Stauber to Three-Year Deal

The Kings, in one of their quieter rounds of negotiations this summer, signed goaltender Robb Stauber but chose not to announce it. Stauber signed a three-year deal worth about $1.5 million.

In June, Stauber, upset that the Kings had left him unprotected in the expansion draft, criticized the team, his remarks in The Times angering management. Coach Barry Melrose said here Monday, though, that he had no problem with any of Stauber’s comments.

“I don’t want a bunch of robots,” he said. “If (the players) talk, it’s no problem. As long as they back it up.”
