Reply to Criticism of Metrolink Station Plans

Share

* In response to Robert E. Main’s letter (Sept. 13) criticizing the proposed Chatsworth Metrolink station, it goes without saying that we would all like to see more funding for fire protection, police, education and services.

We also need public transportation. To encourage people to use the Metrolink station, it should be comfortable, which means having a climate-controlled building to wait in. The current canopies are totally inadequate and open to the blazing heat of summer and the cold winds of winter.

Why does Mr. Main object to the planned 1890s station design, which would bring back a well-loved look? Should we have an ugly building instead?

Why is Mr. Main so hostile to the planned child-care center? Would he rather working parents hire illegal immigrants to care for their children?
