Corporate Confidence Sinks: With the debilitating effects of the yen’s rise and an unusually wet summer, Japanese corporate sentiment ebbed further in the July-September quarter, according to a survey released Friday by the Finance Ministry. Its survey of 9,600 companies showed the percentage of major firms saying business conditions improved, minus the percentage replying that conditions worsened, at -18.6. The figure worsened from -12.0 in the April-June quarter.
