FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Forum Is Tonight on Proposed Bridges

Share

A community forum to hear the public’s questions about a county proposal to build three bridges across the Santa Ana River will be held tonight at the Fountain Valley School District offices.

The proposed sites for new bridges are Banning Avenue and 19th Street; Garfield and Gisler avenues, and Atlanta Avenue and Wilson Street. The bridges would affect traffic in Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.

The meeting, at 6 p.m. in the district’s offices at 17210 Oak St., will be the second of three forums scheduled to discuss the Santa Ana River Cooperative Bridge Study.

The final meeting is planned for Oct. 13 at the Newport Beach City Council Chambers, 3300 Newport Blvd.

The study is expected to be presented to the County Planning Commission in November and to the Board of Supervisors in December.

Copies of both the traffic and environmental reports can be reviewed at libraries and city halls in each of the four cities, as well as the County Environmental Management Agency, Project Planning Division, 300 N. Flower St., Suite 356, Santa Ana.

More information is available by calling Jenifer Rice, a county planner, at (714) 834-5383.
