Marco Forster Middle School will receive up to $300,000 in the next three years from the Office of Criminal Justice Planning to help students at risk of failing in school.

The school’s “Choices for Life” grant proposal was one of 24 in the state to receive funding through the Drug Suppression in Schools Program. The first $100,000 of the three-year grant will be given this year.

School officials say they will use the funds to provide individual and group counseling, parenting workshops, student and parent support groups, peer counseling, after-school tutoring, extracurricular activities and sports programs, as well as community service and wilderness experiences.
