Countywide : Fire Prevention Week Events Set

Orange County’s fire stations will hold open houses Saturday as part of Fire Prevention Week activities.

The theme for the week is “Get Out, Stay Out: Your Fire Safe Response.” The theme stresses the importance of developing home, school and business evacuation plans.

Each fire station will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and will feature station tours, displays of fire equipment and safety demonstrations.

Stations holding special demonstrations include:

* Cypress, 4991 Cerritos St. Aerial display with firetruck, 10 a.m.; vehicle extrication using “Jaws of Life,” 11 a.m.; vehicle fire, 1:30 p.m.

* Dana Point, 23831 Stonehill Drive. Simulated fire response, 10 and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; stove-top fire, 1 p.m.; simulated medical aid call, 2 and 4 p.m.; simulated fire response, 2 p.m.

* Emerald Bay, 259 Emerald Drive. Hose laying, 9 a.m.; ladder demonstrations, 10 a.m.; cardiopulmonary resuscitation demonstration, noon; first aid demonstration, 1 p.m.; hose laying, ladder and fire extinguisher demonstrations, 2 to 4 p.m.

* Laguna Hills, 24001 Paseo de Valencia. Rappelling exercise with firetruck, 9:30 a.m.; vehicle extrication using Jaws of Life, 11 a.m.; rescue of “victim” from fire station roof using ropes and rigging equipment, 2:15 p.m.; Marine Corps helicopter landing and demonstration, 3:15 p.m.

* Laguna Niguel, 23600 Pacific Island Drive. Aerial display, 10:30 a.m.; vehicle extrication, 2 p.m.

* Laguna Niguel, 31461 Golden Lantern. Vehicle extrication, 10 a.m.; aerial display, 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.; fire extinguisher demonstration, 2:30 p.m.

* Lake Forest, 23022 El Toro Road. Medic display, 10 a.m.

* Los Alamitos, 3642 Green Ave. Vehicle extrication, 1 p.m.

* Mission Viejo, 25862 Marguerite Parkway. Medic demonstration, 10 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m.; simulated structure fire response, 11 a.m.; aerial display, 3 p.m.

* Mission Viejo, 22425 Olympiad Road. Medic display, 10 a.m; truck display, 2 p.m.

* Rancho Santa Margarita, 30131 Aventura. Hourly demonstrations of bunker drill, stove-top fire safety and vehicle extrication.

* San Juan Capistrano, 31865 Del Obispo St. Ropes and rigging demonstration, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; vehicle extrication, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

* Seal Beach, 718 Central Ave. Aerial display, 1 p.m.

* Tustin, 1241 Irvine Blvd. Home fire safety, 10 a.m.; stove-top fire safety, 11 a.m.; vehicle extrication, 1 p.m.; vehicle fire, 2 p.m.; paramedic response, 3 p.m.
