PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Giants’ Hampton Has Knee Surgery
Rodney Hampton, the NFL’s second-leading rusher, had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will not play until at least the end of the month, New York Giant Coach Dan Reeves said.
The Pro Bowl running back will sit out games at Washington this weekend and at Giants Stadium next weekend against Philadelphia.

Free-agent quarterback Bob Gagliano was signed by the Atlanta Falcons. The move came after Chris Miller, out for the year after knee surgery, was put on injured reserve.
