VENTURA : Supplies Sought for Cleanup Effort

Share

Ventura High School is seeking donations of paint brushes, rags, cleaning supplies and outdoor plants for a cleanup project at the school Saturday.

More than 500 students, school staff members and parents will spend eight hours Saturday landscaping, painting over graffiti and doing other chores to spruce up the campus.

Dubbed “S.E.R.V.E.,” or Students Earning Revenue for Ventura High School Enrichment, the workday allows students both to help improve the appearance of their school and raise money for their favorite school clubs or classes. Before the event begins, each student will gather pledges from friends, neighbors and family to donate money for each hour worked.

In the program’s first two years, students raised $25,000 in pledges and community members kicked in an additional $15,000.
