SAN CLEMENTE : Meeting to Address Nov. 2 Ballot Issues

Voters seeking information about measures on the Nov. 2 ballot are invited to attend an informational meeting Thursday.

The League of Women Voters, Capistrano Bay area, will sponsor the public meeting, which will be held in the San Clemente Community Center, 100 N. Seville, at 7 p.m.

The forum will feature speakers from the league who have studied the ballot measures and will give presentations touching both sides of issues. Afterward, the panel will field questions.

Major measures on the ballot include the school voucher amendment and extension of a half-cent sales tax to support local public safety.

The league’s speakers bureau can also be utilized by other community groups. Cities covered by the group include Dana Point, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano.

The nonpartisan political group also is sponsoring a cable-access program on the school voucher initiative that will air Oct. 21. Featured will be proponents of Proposition 174 representative Mark Bucher, chairman of the Orange County Yes on 174 committee. Talking against the measure will be Wayne Johnson, a member of the board of directors of the California Teachers Assn.
