NEED A TRIM? Folks in Rossmoor might have to get used to bushy trees. Their community services district had the grand idea of marking and computerizing all trees, which would have saved money when it came to trimming. . . . This week, however, officials discovered that they are losing $195,000 in property taxes from the state. Not only did they shelve the project, but slashed $20,000 from the city’s tree-trimming budget.

LITTLE HALL: Kelly Doyle tried to explain about her dad’s big day Monday, that the former Angels pitcher was going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In Cooperstown? He’s now in auto parts in Huntington Beach, and his family is still very much into baseball. “We’re all excited about this,” says son Craig.

HILLBILLIES: Actor Buddy Ebsen, who lived in Newport Beach during the entire nine years he played Jed Clampett in “The Beverly Hillbillies,” is full of praise for Jim Varney’s resurrection of that role in a new movie (F1) . . . “After people get over the shock,” he says, “I think it works very well.” Ebsen now lives with his wife, Dottie, in the South Bay of Los Angeles County.

THE BUZZ: Some 370 international exhibitors are presenting the future of eye wear at the sixth annual Vision Expo this weekend in Anaheim. But Costa Mesa spec maker Black Flys seemed to be changing perceptions of how future trade shows will look with its eye-catching curvaceous tiled booth amid the more drab quarters provided by the convention center . . . “We’re blowing minds here,” and business is great, boasted Black Flys owner Jack Martinez, whose fluorescent orange plaid outfit stood out among the gray suits.
