Alhambra : Low-Income Unit Lottery

Share

City officials are seeking applications from low-income senior citizens to live in a 75-unit federally funded residential complex under construction on 3rd Street.

The project was developed by a nonprofit charity, the National Church Residences, along with the city of Alhambra and its redevelopment agency.

“Providing comfortable, safe, affordable housing for all residents is a top priority in Alhambra,” Mayor Barbara Messina said.

Each unit in the complex, financed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is 600 square feet, including a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. The complex will have a library and laundry facilities.

In November, residents will be chosen by lottery. Preference will be given to those in substandard housing or who pay more than 50% of their monthly income for rent.

Applications can be obtained from the Joslyn Adult Recreation Center, 210 N. Chapel Ave., or Alhambra Public Library, 410 W. Main St. For more information call the Alhambra Department of Development Services, 818 570-5037.
