Man Held in Attempted Robbery, Kidnaping

Police arrested one of two men who tried to rob a couple at gunpoint on the crowded beach in Venice on Sunday, briefly snatching their 4-year-old daughter, officers said.
The two men, one of them brandishing a gun, demanded money from the couple shortly after 4 p.m. on the beach near Washington Boulevard, said Sgt. Bill Frio. When a crowd began to gather, one of the men grabbed the child and fled down the beach, he said. The girl was released unharmed a short distance away.
