COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Bruins Are Thin on Defensive Line
- Share via
Grady Stretz’s foot injury leaves the Bruins with only five defensive linemen--tackles Matt Werner, Sale Isaia and Gary Walton and nose guards George Kase and Travis Kirschke--against Oregon State on Saturday at Corvallis. The Beavers have averaged 436.3 rushing yards in their last three games, two of them victories, over Arizona State and Pacific.

Oregon State has quarterback problems, with Don Shanklin and Ian Shields not practicing because of injuries and third-stringer Rahim Muhammad of Fairfax High leading the offense. Muhammad is being emulated by UCLA’s Anthony Cobbs, a reserve wide receiver who is playing wishbone quarterback with the scout team against the Bruin defense this week.
