Those of you who watch “Roseanne” might have noticed something new on the family’s refrigerator.

It’s a picture of Reggie Lewis.

According to Jackie MacMullan of the Boston Globe, the picture was put there by the set director as a subtle tribute to Lewis and his tragically short career with the Celtics. Lewis, who had suffered a heart episode during last spring’s NBA playoffs, died last summer when he was stricken during a workout.

Wasted effort: From columnist Bernie Lincicome of the Chicago Tribune, on the hiring of Tom Trebelhorn as the Cubs’ new manager: “With 11 managers in 11 years, the Cubs might have concluded by now that this is not a solution. This is like rotating the tires on a hand cart.”

Add Trebelhorn: In a Chicago Sun-Times poll--before the new manager was announced--asking if fans preferred Trebelhorn or Tony Muser, Trebelhorn was the choice of only 70 of 569 callers. A total of 415 voted for “neither.”

The whole truth: Rick Parker, fight promoter of former New York Jet Mark Gastineau, in response to charges that he fixed many of Gastineau’s fights: “The caliber of opposition Mark is fighting, you don’t need to pay them to lie down.”

Role models: When Aaron Taylor, Notre Dame’s All-American offensive tackle from Concord, Calif., was asked which people have most influenced his life, he replied: “My mother and Captain Kangaroo.”

Times change: Someone asked Phillie catcher Darren Daulton to compare the ability of the team’s pitchers this season to hold runners on, as compared to a couple of seasons ago. His answer:

“A couple of years ago we didn’t have to worry about guys stealing second base because they were already there.”

Kiner again: One of the highlights of a new home video, “The Albert Achievement Awards,” is a shot of New York Met announcer Ralph Kiner, sitting alongside Tim McCarver, in which he says: “I’m Ralph Kiner along with Tim . . . and, Tim, what’s your last name?”

Trivia answer: Tim Young, taken from Ottawa, in 1975.
