Hausdorfer solved the issue. . . . He’s arranged it so alternates cannot speak unless filling in for a regular member. They can’t serve on committees either. Says Telles: “We’re happy that people are checking it out.”

BOOK ‘EM: What good is it being chief of police if you can’t arrest whoever you want? Garden Grove Police Chief Stanley L. Knee has agreed to use his powers to help the city’s Community Adult Day Services with a Nov. 6 fund-raising auction. Highest bidder gets to choose someone for Knee to book, fingerprint, and run mug shots on. All for laughs, and the cause. . . . The adult center has other good friends: Whoopi Goldberg, Stephen King, and Neal Diamond have all donated autographed items.
