MIDWAY CITY : Celebration to Mark Reopening of School
The Westminster School District will hold a reopening celebration for Dr. Jessie Hayden Elementary School on Thursday. The campus had been closed for 14 years and was opened again in September.
The festivities, which will include ethnic foods, music and dance performances, will begin at 6 p.m. at the school, 14782 Eden Street, Midway City. About 500 guests, including members of the board of trustees, City Council members and other community leaders, are expected to attend the event, said district spokeswoman Audrey Brown.
The 32-year-old campus has recently undergone a $1.5-million renovation project, which included refurbishing classrooms and buying new playground equipment, Brown said.
