Halloween Brings End to Eastern Sierra Season

Generally good trout fishing probably will continue until the end of the Eastern Sierra season Sunday at dusk, with diehard anglers enjoying most places to themselves. While nights and early mornings have turned cold, discouraging many visitors, days are still “delightful, shirt-sleeve weather,” says David DeSurra of the Convict Lake Resort.
The biggest fish showed up in September and peaked this month. The best places were Convict and Gull lakes.
“It’s been a great year for us,” said Teri Levy at the Gull marina, where Gary Mykkanen of Los Angeles took a 7 1/2-pound rainbow last week.
