New Legal Threat to Lopez Reported: Volkswagen executive Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua may face perjury charges over receiving pictures of the new Opel Vectra car, a German magazine said. Lopez left General Motors Corp., the parent of Adam Opel, in March to become VW’s executive purchasing manager. He is now the subject of an industrial espionage probe. A court will hear Opel’s appeal of a decision that allowed VW to continue employing seven managers who left Opel to join Lopez. A statement made by Lopez as part of that case said he was given photos of the new model in February. That contradicts an assurance made later to a court that he had received no such photos.
