COUNTYWIDE : Nestande Gets 1-Year Contract With OCTA

Share

Former Orange County Supervisor Bruce Nestande has been granted a one-year contract with the Orange County Transportation Authority to continue consultant work assessing transportation opportunities that could stem from the closure of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.

Nestande will receive $3,500 or less each month, under an agreement with the OCTA.

Nestande, a former chairman of the California Transportation Commission, was first hired by the OCTA in March. He will coordinate efforts to help secure property on the 4,700-acre site for a potential transportation facility. The OCTA staff said a preliminary examination of the El Toro base showed possibilities for a central bus facility and maintenance and storage facilities for commuter rail trains.

Nestande left the County Board of Supervisors in 1987 after an unsuccessful run for secretary of state. He also serves on a committee examining Caltrans’ performance.
