OC HIGH / STUDENT NEWS & VIEWS : Skate Lingo

A recent centerfold spread in the Sunny Hills High School’s student newspaper, Accolade, was devoted to skateboarding--everything from mastering tricks and negative stereotyping to clothing worn by skaters and the anatomy of a skateboard.

A sampling of skater lingo:

Agro: Person who is wearing strange clothes.

Awright: When you’re confused.

Grippers: Tight jeans or pants.

Gurbs: Food.

Clean, phat, solid: Something good or awesome.

Smellin mellin: Smelly, bad odor.
