Two men were arrested Friday in the “execution-style” slayings in El Monte of a man and a 17-year-old, authorities said.
The suspects, Joe Hernandez, 24, and Robert Cota, 18, were held without bail in the Aug. 10 shootings, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokeswoman Britta Tubbs said.
Rafael Torres, 28, was shot first, and Julio Silva, 17, was killed 45 minutes later about a mile away, Tubbs said. He said no motive is known. Investigators arrested the suspects about 6 a.m. Friday.
