COUNTYWIDE : Meeting to Focus on Emergency Programs

Agencies and groups seeking funding for emergency food and shelter programs are invited to submit their requests at a Nov. 8 meeting at 10 a.m. in the Orange County Red Cross Blood Center, 600 N. Parkcenter Drive, Santa Ana.

Members of the Emergency Food and Shelter Board will take testimony at the meeting to determine the county’s needs and priorities when disbursing 1993-94 funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Last year, $1.1 million was distributed to 19 agencies, including $203,583 to the Food Distribution Center, $203,583 to the Orange County Community Development Council and $181,460 to the Shelter for the Homeless.

The Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Board consists of representatives of the Salvation Army, the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross, United Way of Orange County, Newport Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council, AFL-CIO Community Services, Social Services Agency, St. Vincent de Paul, Friendship Shelter, Orange County Health Care Agency, League of Women Voters of Orange County, Southern California Indian Center, Community Development Council, Human Relations Commission, Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities of Orange County, Temple Beth Tikvah and Temple Isaiah.
