A woman was in critical condition after she was shot as she drove home from work early Monday, police said.

Justina Alejandra Bazan, 18, of La Habra, was northbound on Harbor Boulevard about 4:25 a.m. with a man who had worked with her on the late shift at Taco Bell in Fullerton, Sgt. Glenn Deveny said.

A man in a car drove alongside her car near Imperial Highway, yelled at her and then fired several rounds from a semiautomatic handgun into her car, Deveny said. Bazan’s passenger was not injured, he said.

A bullet hit Bazan’s upper right arm and another lodged in her right breast, police said. Bazan, who is 3 1/2 months pregnant, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Police are seeking Bazan’s boyfriend, Hugo Garcia, 21, of Whittier, for questioning about the shooting, Deveny said.

Anyone seeing Garcia’s white 1981 Toyota Celica with California license plate 2YFJ058 is asked to call police at (714) 738-6715.
