Motorists who want to find out how basic maintenance keeps repair bills down can bring their automobile to the Car Care Fair on Saturday.

Automotive experts will perform free inspections, exhaust emission tests, speedometer checks and give talks on proper car maintenance at the Automobile Club of Southern California, 25181 Paseo de Alicia, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is part of a series of clinics the firm is sponsoring in Southern California through November.

“Our goal during the Car Care Fairs is to educate car owners about the importance of consistently maintaining their vehicles by providing some helpful car care tips,” said Paul Berkery, manager of the company’s Laguna Hills district office.

According to the company, more than 900,000 vehicles were disabled on state highways last year.

“We believe these tips will help motorists spend less for repairs, prolong the life of their cars, contribute to cleaner air and make driving more enjoyable,” Berkery said.

Subjects covered on Saturday will include car safety and information on how to select a mechanic.
