THOUSAND OAKS : Recycling Boxes Free to Residents

Share

Free cardboard recycling boxes are available at City Hall for Thousand Oaks residents.

At the suggestion of Councilwoman Jaime Zukowski, the City Council has approved distribution of the green and white boxes, which city officials hope will make it more convenient for residents to collect and recycle discarded mail, computer, office and school papers now accepted in the city’s curbside recycling program.

The city now has about 3,400 of the boxes in stock and has been providing them to businesses free of charge since April, 1991. The boxes cost the city 50 cents each. City officials say they expect about 500 to 1,000 residents to come by and pick up a free box.
