SIMI VALLEY : Council to Decide on Cable Regulations
Nearing the final step in establishing local control of its cable company, the Simi Valley City Council will decide Monday whether to adopt federal cable regulations and service standards.
The city last month received authority from the Federal Communications Commission to regulate Comcast Cablevision, which serves about 27,000 customers in Simi Valley.
Adopting the FCC’s regulations and standards would enable the city to enforce that authority. The city, for instance, would be able to make sure the company is charging a fair price for basic cable service and is attentive and courteous to its customers.
